Hinweise zum Stardate (Sternzeit)
- Stardate (Sternzeit)
Es gibt eine Vielzahl von sich widersprechenden Theorien zu dem System der
Stardates. Dies kommt dadurch, daß kein völlig perfektes System möglich ist.
UFP-Info verwendet die recht plausible Theorie von Andrew Main (EMail:
zefram@dcs.warwick.ac.uk), der diese regelmäßig in Form der "Mini-FAQ
Stardates" im InterNet verbreitet. Folgender Text ist daraus übersetzt:
- Zur Geschichte der Stardates
Bevor die UFP gegründet wurde, benutzte jeder, der Raumflug betrieb, sein
eigenes Zeitsystem. Terraner benutzten den gregorianischen Kalender und UTC
(Universal Time Coordinated), Vulkanier hatten ihren eigenen Kalender. Zu
Anfang benutzte die UFP den terranischen Kalender, da sie auf der Erde
gegründet wurde. Dieses System stellte sich aber wegen seiner eigentümlichen
Schaltjahrpraxis als unpopulär heraus.
Die Starfleet Bürokraten entwickelten schnell ein Kompromiß-System, das mit
keinem Kalender übereinstimmte. Der 04.01.2162 00:00, nur einige Monate nach
der Gründung der UFP wurde zu Stardate 0000 erklärt und immer um 5 Einheiten
pro Erdtag (24h) erhöht. Dies anerkannte die Bedeutung von Terra für die UFP
und erlaubte gleichzeitig für andere eine leichte Umrechnung in ihren
Kalender.
Das System hatte aber seine Nachteile. Die Zahlen begannen schlecht handhabbar
zu werden. Stardate 10000 (27.06.2167 00:00) wurde wieder zu Stardate 0000
erklärt. Damit begann die erste Ausgabe der Stardates. Die Ausgabe davor wird
als nullte bezeichnet. Dieses Auf-Null-Setzen wiederholte sich alle 5 einhalb
Jahre, bis 2266, als die 19. Ausgabe der Stardates startete. Die UFP bestand
jetzt bereits über 100 Jahre und die Benutzung der Stardates hatte sich sehr
bewährt. Starfleet stellte eine Kommission zur Optimierung des
Stardate-Systems auf.
Die Kommission verabschiedete 2267 den Vorschlag, die Stardate-Einheiten auf
0.1 pro 24h zu reduzieren. Dies würde den Durchlauf für die 4 Stellen von 5
einhalb Jahre auf 250 Jahre erhöhen. Diese System der Ausgabe 19 des Stardates
wurde getestet zwischen Stardate [19]7340 (26.01.2270) und [19]7840 (05.10.2283),
für 500 Einheiten, d.h. 5000 Tage, erwies sich aber als unpopulär, da man
immer noch eine zusätzliche Stelle hinter dem Komma spezifizieren mußte, um
die gleiche Genauigkeit wie beim alten System zu erreichen.
Als Resultat wurde 2280 beschlossen, dieses Stardate-System ab Ende der
Testperiode zu Stardate [19]7840 nicht weiterlaufen zu lassen. Stattdessen
stellte man auf 0.5 Einheiten pro 24h um. Das sollte die Hauptprobleme beider
vorangegangenen Systeme lösen. 4 Ziffern vor dem Komma würden für 50 Jahre
reichen und für Stellen nach dem Komma gab es selten Gründe. Außerdem wurde
das System mit 5 Einheiten pro Tag wieder eingeführt, nur jetzt nach dem
Komma. Dieses System wurde genutzt von [19]7840 an und sollte jetzt länger
halten.
Mit den immer länger werdenden Missionen der Schiffe wurde es für die
Raumschiffe immer unhandlicher, im Tageszyklus eines Planeten zu bleiben, mit
dem es manchmal Jahre keinen Kontakt hatte. Im Jahreszyklus zu bleiben hat
noch etwas Logik, aber zu einem 24h-Tag, sowie zu Schalttagen ist verwirrend.
2318 wurde so beschlossen, auf allen UFP Raumschiffen den alten
gregorianischen Kalender durch einen einfacheren abzulösen, der keine
Schalttage kennt, indem jeder Tag ein bißchen verlängert wird. Dieser wird
hier als Quad-Cent-Kalender bezeichnet, weil er alle 400 Jahre mit dem
gregorianischen zusammenfällt.
So wurde ein neues Stardate-System mit 5 Stellen eingeführt, das ein Jahr
identisch mit 1000 Stardate-Einheiten macht: Stardate [20]5006.0 (01.01.2323
00:00) wurde abgelöst durch Stardate [21]00000. Zur gleichen Zeit wurde auf
allen Raumschiffen der neue Kalender eingeführt. Diese System ist bis heute in
Kraft.
- Widersprüche mit dieser Theorie
* Stardates, die rückwärts gehen, sind nach dieser Theorie nicht erfaßbar und
es ist auch kein Sinn darin zu sehen, warum es so etwas überhaupt geben soll.
* Die "4" bei den TNG-Sternzeiten soll angeblich das 24. Jahrhundert bedeuten.
Dies ist aber nur eine Begründung aus dem "realen Leben". Im "Star Trek-
Universum" hat diese 4 eine andere Bedeutung.
* Stardate 44012.3 (TNG "Family") war nicht Winter! Das kann vielleicht mit
der Wal-Sonde erklärt werden, die in Star Trek IV das ganze Klima der Erde
durcheinandergewürfelt bzw. die Umlaufbahn der Erde etwas verändert hat.
* Sisko sagte in DS9 "Second Sight", SD 47329.4, daß seine Frau vor 4 Jahren
starb. Sie starb aber SD 44001, also vor drei Jahren. Das ist ein
Drehbuchfehler.
* In TNG "Dark Page" sieht man Lwaxans Logbucheinträge mit Stardates im
30000er Bereich, die 35 Jahre vor SD 47254 spielen sollen. Das ist auch ein
Drehbuchfehler.
* Die chronologische Reihenfolge von TOS ist nach Stardates völlig chaotisch.
- Star Trek: The Original Series
Laut "Star Trek Encyclopedia" spielt "The Cage" im Jahre 2254, die erste
Season von "Star Trek" spielt 2266 bis 2267 (Stardates 1000-3000), die zweite
2267 bis 2268 (Stardates 2000-5000) und die dritte 2268 bis 2269 (Stardates
4000-6000). Die Kinofilme spielen 2271 (Star Trek I, SD 7412), 2285 (Star Trek
II und III, SD 8130 und 8210), 2286 (Star Trek IV, SD 8390), 2287 (Star Trek
V, SD 8454) und 2293 (Star Trek VI, SD 9522).
- Star Trek: The Next Generation
In TNG, DS9 und VOY soll ein Jahr 1000 Stardate-Einheiten entsprechen. Es
steht 41xxx für das Jahr 2364 (entspricht der ersten Season von TNG), 42xxx
für 2365 usw. Eine Ziffer nach dem Komma soll die Tageszeit charakterisieren:
3 steht für morgens, 5 für mittags, 8 für abends usw. (Dies ist allerdings
nicht mit der Stardate-Theorie vereinbar.) Der Kinofilm "Star Trek:
Generations" spielt 2371 (SD 48650).
- Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
DS9 hat die selbe Regelung wie TNG, nur das die 1. Season mit Stardate 46xxx
beginnt, weil sie parallel zur 6. Season von TNG spielt.
- Star Trek: Voyager
VOY hat auch diese Regel, nur daß hier mit 48xxx begonnen wird, da die 1.
Season parallel zur 3. Season von DS9 spielt.
Greogorian. Kalender -" Stardate
gregorianische Datum
Das ist das Datum, was auch heute verwendet wird und noch zu Star-Trek-Zeiten,
ab dem 01.01.2323 jedoch nur noch auf der Erde, nicht aber auf Raumschiffen.
Dort wird das Quad-Cent-Datum verwendet (siehe Infos zum Stardate).
Quad-Cent-Kalender -" Stardate
Quad-Cent-Datum
Dieses Datum wird ab dem 01.01.2323 auf Schiffen der UFP benutzt und hat den
Vorteil, daß jedes Jahr gleich lang ist. Die Schalttage werden gleichmäßig auf
alle Tage verteilt, d.h. jeder Tag ist einige Sekunden länger als normal.

Stardate
Anzugeben ist auch die Ausgabe des Stardates (siehe Infos zum Stardate). TOS
und die Classic-Kinofilme haben Ausgabe 19, TNG und danach haben Ausgabe 21.
Die Ausgabe kann auch negativ sein (Daten vor dem 04.01.2161).

Starfleet's new Oberth class ships make their first
appearance, the Grissom being one of the first
commissioned. These ships are built mostly as science
vessels, are much smaller than most other starships, have
a much smaller crew and are only lightly armed.
Excelsior Commissioned
The Excelsior class of ships will be the most popular
ship design (sometimes with slight design changes) in
Starfleet for the next century. The Excelsior was
originally built to test a new Transwarp drive, but when
that proved a failure, the Excelsior was fitted with
regular warp Engines.

The Excelsior ship design was excellent though, and
Starfleet begins to construct an entire line of "Excelsior
Class" ships. They will soon be the backbone of the
Starfleet like the K't'inga class battlecruisers are for
the Klingon Empire.
